Academic Curricula

The Department of Statistics offers a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in statistics.

Unless the Department decides otherwise, the following general guidelines apply to each module in Statistics:

  • The class mark is a combined mark for tutorials, practicals (if applicable), homework assignments (if applicable) and (a) semester test(s).
  • The final mark is computed as a weighted sum consisting of 40% of the class mark and 60% of the exam mark.
  • The weight of a semester test mark is at least half and not more than half of the exam mark.
  • A sub minimum of 40% is required for the exam paper.

A student presenting Statistics as a major must do all the respective undergraduate modules. In exceptional cases, the Department may decide to overlook the prerequisite(s) for a module on an individual basis.
