The NMMU department of Statistics hosted the 54th annual conference of

the South African Statistical Association (SASA) from the 5 - 9 November

2012. Professor Jeff Racine (McMasters University, Canada) and Professor

Nick Fisher (University of Sydney & Value Metrics, Australia), both leading

researchers in their respective fields, were the invited guests of the

conference.

 

The 2012 conference had 230 local and international delegates, and saw

many NMMU/UPE alumni return to their alma mater. The conference

boasted a high level of presentations across the board and the conference

was an overwhelming success.

 

A big “thank you”goes to the SASA president (2012) Dr Gary Sharp and

conference organising committee Johan Hugo,Warren Brettenny,Chantelle

Clohessy and Rae Vincent-Le Roux from the NMMU Statistics Department.
